Comfortable thatched accommodation with en-suite facilities, well-prepared meals, experienced guides, the company of elephants and the warm and friendly Wild Horizons atmosphere will make this a truly memorable part of your African experience. Elephant Camp accommodates a maximum of eight guests. Four thatched chalets, a dining area, swimming pool and bar/patio overlook a sweeping view of open plains. A number of activities are offered, with the emphasis on spending time with the elephants - either game viewing from their backs, picnicking with them on the estate, grooming and feeding them, swimming with them, or just experiencing the pleasure of being close to such magnificent animals. Game drives, both at night and during the day, as well as guided walks, are also available - either on the estate or into the neighbouring Zambezi National...
Somalisa Camp is a small intimate tented camp tucked under the canopy of an acacia tree island in the eastern sector of Hwange National Park. The camp overlooks the seasonal Sumamalishe floodplains and the famous Kennedy Vlei line, an ancient watercourse that made its name from the spectacular elephant, buffalo and zebra herds that pass through in search of water.
Six A-frame canvas tents are positioned in a horseshoe formation to take advantage of the camp's active waterhole. Inside, the tents create an ambience of a bygone era; there are varnished wooden floors, dark teak furniture and a writing desk, while the outside bathroom features a flush lavatory and bucket shower. Electricity at the camp is solar powered and, at night, lighting is provided by paraffin lamps in the main areas and battery powered lamps inside the tents.
