departing for Akagera National Park. Stay 3

Full-day safari drives organised on a shared basis

Drive to Volcanoes National Park with a stop
for lunch in Kigali en route. Stay 2 nights at the
Mountain Gorilla View Lodge. (B, D)
Morning guided excursion in search of gorillas.
Afternoon optional visit to Sacola cultural village,
a project aimed at improving the livelihoods of
local residents. (B, L, D)
Trek into the national park in search of your
allocated habituated family group of golden
monkeys. After lunch depart for Kibuye. Overnight
on the shores of Lake Kivu at the Cormoran
Lodge. (B, L)
Drive to Nyungwe National Park. Stay 3 nights at
the Nyungwe Forest Lodge. (B, L, D)
This morning, search for Angola colobus
monkeys with your guide. After lunch, visit the
Nyungwe Nziza Project, which is attempting to
turn the national park into a viable ecotourism
destination. (B, L, D)
Transfer to the Cyamudongo forest and search for
chimpanzees. Climb the Nyungwe canopy walk to
see the forest from a different angle. (B, L, D)
Drive north back to Kigali, stopping at Butare for
a tour of the National Museum and Nyanza to
visit the Royal Palace and Rwesero Art Museum.
Overnight at the Hotel des Mille Collines. (B, L, D)
Visit the Genocide Museum and some of the
city’s colourful craft markets. Evening cultural
dinner (payable locally) before transferring to the
airport for your flight home via Nairobi. (B) Arrive
home the next day. (N)
