This fly-safari combines the Masai Mara, Kenya's most celebrated reserve, with a gorilla safari in Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda. The setting of Main Governor's Camp is magical, so much so that almost a century ago it was reserved exclusively for Kenya's colonial governors. The camp is situated in the forest along the winding banks of the Mara river, it's waters teeming with birdlife, hippos and crocodiles right in the heart of the reserve. There are 37 tents, all of which enjoy uninterrupted views over the Mara river. Wildlife drives are exceptional and hot-air ballooning is offered right on the spot as an optional extra.
After a night in Nairobi, fly just 30 minutes to Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda, and drive for 2 hours to Volcanoes National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorilla. Sitting with a small family group of mountain gorillas is undoubtedly one of the world's greatest wildlife experiences. Rwanda's Volcanoes National Park, setting for the film Gorillas in the Mist, is home to about 150 gorillas, as well as wild chimpanzees and a host of other primates such as golden monkeys.
