This outstanding itinerary spans three of East Africa’s prime wilderness areas. Begin in Tarangire National Park where the permanent water source of the Tarangire river supports a wide range of resident species including lions, leopards and cheetahs. Sanctuary Swala is in the quiet southern part of the park where night drives add to the excitement. Fly on to Sanctuary Kusini in the Serengeti, built around a rocky outcrop on the path of the wildebeest migration. Lastly, cross the border into Kenya’s Masai Mara. Here, on the short-grass savannas, lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, jackals, Masai giraffes, elephants and more than a dozen species of antelope can be spotted.

Fly to Kilimanjaro International Airport. (N)
Upon arrival you will be met by a representative and transferred by private vehicle to your lodge, located on the outskirts of Arusha. Stay 1 night at Arusha Coffee Lodge, located on a coffee plantation and designed around the original plantation houses. (N)
Early morning flight to Tarangire National Park. On arrival at Kuro airstrip you will be met by a camp representative and transferred (about 30 minutes) to Sanctuary Swala camp with wildlife viewing en route. Stay 2 nights. In the afternoon there is time to relax before enjoying an exciting 4x4 wildlife drive. Huge herds of elephants, greater kudus, impala and zebras are all easily spotted while leopards lurk in the trees. Due to the camp's secluded location, you are unlikely to see many vehicles as you venture out into the park. As the sun fades, enjoy a sunset drink before returning to camp for dinner. (B, L, D)
Morning and afternoon wildlife drives. In between the safari activities, take a swim in the pool or relax on your private deck with views straight out onto the camp waterhole. In the evening, meet around the campfire for a pre-dinner drink. (B, L, D)
Take a wildlife drive / transfer to Kuro airstrip for your light aircraft flight to the Serengeti. Upon arrival you will be met by a camp representative and transferred to Sanctuary Kusini for a 2-night stay. Arrive at camp for lunch. Afternoon wildlife drive into the Serengeti, one of the world's largest wildlife sanctuaries. Every year 1.5 million wildebeest migrate from the Serengeti to the Masai Mara followed by hundreds of thousands of zebras, gazelles and other plains wildlife in search of fresh grazing pastures. Sanctuary Kusini is ideally placed to catch the migration from mid-December to April when the zebras and wildebeest drop their young. (B, L, D)
Morning and afternoon wildlife drives. The area around Sanctuary Kusini is famed for its cheetahs. There will be an opportunity to contribute to cheetah conservation through the Cheetah Watch Campaign by submitting your sightings of cheetahs in Tanzania to the Serengeti Cheetah Project. Alternatively you may prefer a full-day wildlife drive into the heart of the Serengeti with a picnic lunch. This evening, return to camp and climb to the top of the kopje for stunning 360-degree views of the Serengeti. Relax with a drink as the sun sets. (B, L, D)
Transfer to the airsrip and fly from the Serengeti to Tarime in Tanzania. Drive from Tarime to Migori in Kenya, clearing customs en route. Then fly from Migori to the Masai Mara, one of Africa’s greatest parks. You will be met by a camp representative and driven to Sanctuary Olonana for a 3-night stay. Sanctuary Olonana has earned a Gold Award from Ecotourism Kenya. You can visit the wetlands, which cleanse wastewater before returning it to the natural environment, or take part in their tree planting initiative. The main dining room and veranda command a dramatic stretch of the Mara river, providing the perfect setting for breakfast, afternoon tea and after-dinner stargazing. Afternoon wildlife drive. Morning and afternoon safari activities. The plains offer a rich variety of food for the dominant predators including lions, leopards, hyenas and cheetahs. Spot elephants grazing among herds of wildebeest, buffaloes and antelope. In the Mara river, hippos wallow while crocodiles sunbathe on the riverbanks. There is also an opportunity to walk with a naturalist and learn about plants, trees, insects and even how to approach animals on foot. After your safari activities, relax by the pool or revitalise at the mini spa. You may like to book an optional early morning balloon safari. (B, L, D)
Morning wildlife activity. After lunch at camp, transfer to the airstrip and fly to Nairobi. You will be met and transferred to Ole Sereni hotel for a 1-night stay. (B, L)

Sanctuary Kusini is the only permanent camp in this remote part of the southern Serengeti that the wildebeest migration visit each year. Built around a spectacular rocky outcrop and on the path of the wildebeest migration, the camp is ideal for spotting cheetah and wildebeest on the grassy plains in the calving season from mid-December to March.
