Exploring Marrakech With Google Glass

Cox & Kings, the longest established travel company in the world, recently paired up with Google Glass – the world’s newest technology – to explore the hustle and bustle of Marrakech like never before.

Imagine wandering the winding souks of Marrakech, caught up in the heady scents and packed stalls of the markets. Immersed in the frenetic pace of the medina, you take a wrong turn and all of a sudden you’re lost. Whipping out a map will mark you out as a lost tourist for all to see; but if you’re Steve Reilly, CEO of VistaBee and Google Glass Explorer, you just ask Glass. The technology can pinpoint your location and lead you where you need to go – as well as recording your Moroccan experience on a Cox & Kings holiday.

    Marrakesh is a crazy place that’s for sure. It might look exotic but in reality it’s like… how can I put it… it’s like a football match with the 5000 fans on the field chasing the guy who scored – you’re that guy. You don’t know who’s having more fun.

    I am certain this was not taken professionally as the panning in the film was too rushed, but the essence was captured. Would love to go……

      Hi Miri,

      We’re glad to hear that Morocco is on your list! The video itself was shot by a pair of Google glasses, which Steve Reilly was wearing for most of the trip, and there is more of a ‘mans-eye view’ feel to the video. Perhaps this is why you feel the panning was rushed – it’s very easy to turn your head when something suddenly catches your eye.

      We’re very happy to know you thought the essence was captured well.
