Latin American art PINTA exhibition 2012
Over the weekend of the 7th -10th June, Earls Court played host to the 2012 PINTA Art Exhibition.
A prevailing theme throughout centred around the continent’s social, political and economic history, but the natural beauty and remarkable energy of Latin America provided the exhibition with an irresistible vibrancy. Highlights included, a solo presentation of photography from Lluis Barba and an “open cube space” dedicated to the work of iconic Chilean artist Matilde Perez.
Cox & Kings’ Sam Taylor visited the exhibition. “Although PINTA 2012 predominantly featured creations from Latin America, it was heartening to see Portuguese and Spanish artists featured for the first time too. This gave me the opportunity to see Eduardo Chillida Belzunce’s work up close. His paintings of San Sebastian were certainly eye catching, but also contained a surprising level of intimacy. Hacia la Luz (below) demonstrated this perfectly and was a personal highlight of mine. After a successful weekend I look forward to PINTA returning to the UK in the near future.”
After a successful weekend, PINTA now gets ready for its next display in New York during November 2012.
