Richmond Riverside 10k The Cox & Kings team
Sarah shares with us a bit about the Richmond Riverside Run, which herself and some other Cox & Kings staff took part.
On Saturday 20th October, Cox & Kings submitted a team in the Richmond Riverside 10km run. Running on behalf of the BRIGHT Consortium, a specialist training organisation of which Cox & Kings are members, we were raising money for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd in Chester which cares for terminally ill patients. The hospice and its staff are particularly close to Bright’s thoughts as they cared for the daughter of one of the team during her last days. It costs £6,000 a day to run the hospice and so we were hoping to raise some valuable funds to help with their great work.
As part of our fundraising we held a cake sale at our Millbank office, raising over £100. As well as confirming Cox & Kings’ love of food, it perhaps also encouraged more of us to take up running to compensate for the over-indulgence!
The day of the run was fortunately dry. The days leading up to it, however, were not – meaning the course along the tow-path between Richmond and Twickenham was rather muddy. It didn’t take long before everyone realised that the shortest route was straight through the lake-sized puddles and that splashing your competitors was par for the course!
It was a great day and definitely worth the effort for such a worthy cause.
