Cox & Kings Brazil agent evening

Cox & Kings and the Brazilian Tourism Board (Embratur) hosted an evening with 40 selected travel agents at the famous ‘Guanabara’ bar in Covent Garden on 1st October. Here, Cox & Kings’ Roop Kumar tells us more about the evening.

The agents were welcomed with traditional caipirinha cocktails and plenty of tasty Brazilian canapés. Following that, we all learned the secrets of making a caipirinha from two of Guanabara’s Brazilian bartenders. Dinner was around the dance floor, with a choice of Brazilian rib-eye steak, Brazilian beef burger, Brazilian sausage and beef stew, seasonal vegetable risotto or grilled fish and dessert was a Brazilian chocolate truffle.

Fabio Andrade from Embratur and Lucy Stobart from Cox & Kings, gave short presentations about the highlights of Brazil, which were followed by live samba dance performances and salsa lessons (including agent participation in a group salsa number). The night ended on a high note with one of the agents winning a £150 Naked Wine voucher.

All in all the agents had a great evening and with so many caipirinhas going around, the evening had to be a success!

*Caipirinha (pronounced kie-purr-REEN-yah) roughly translates to “country bumpkin”. It is made with cachaça, an intensely sweet Brazilian style of rum made from sugarcane juice. The caipirinha is the national drink of Brazil, where it originated, and is a common Carnival drink.
