Papua New Guinea, comprised of over 600 islands, lies 100 miles north of Australia. It can be a challenging destination for visitors as tourism is still very much in its infancy, but it is one of the most rewarding destinations in the South Pacific. Little is contrived for visitors and there is a huge range of unique flora and fauna to see.

What to see

A land of stunning natural beauty and fascinating local culture, Papua New Guinea also has diverse wildlife. Two-thirds of the world’s species of orchids come from Papua New Guinea, whilst there are 38 species of the birds-of-paradise and 450 different species of butterfly. Marsupials and mammals include cuscus, tree kangaroos, wallabies, bandicoots and spiny anteaters.
