Country Overview

Bora Bora

Overview
Located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, thousands of miles from anywhere, French Polynesia has captured the world’s imagination since European explorers first discovered it in 1767. Experience an exotic mix of Polynesian and French cultures amidst the lush tropical islands and luxurious accommodation.

What to see

Whilst Tahiti is the best known of the islands, Moorea is just a short catamaran ride away offering vivid turquoise lagoons and emerald clad hills and Bora Bora, set on one of the most beautiful lagoons in the world, is the archetypal of the classic South Pacific paradise.

When to go
The best weather period is from May to October this is the best time to visit the French Polynesia. The weather is generally cooler and there is much less rainfall. Temperatures rise during November to April in the summer with the rainy season it's normally humid, cloudy and very wet. Three-quarters of the rainfall occurs over this period, in the form of brief, violent storms, although torrential rains lasting several days can occur as well.
