Experience a taste of India on this outstanding introductory tour of the country’s most famous sights. Exploring the ‘Golden Triangle’, this journey combines imperial Delhi with the legendary Taj Mahal at Agra and a three night stay in a former royal hunting lodge near the Pink City of Jaipur.

Day 1 To Delhi: Overnight flight from London to Delhi with Jet Airways. (N)

Day 2 Delhi: Arrive in Delhi and transfer to the InterContinental Eros (or similar) for 1 night. Afternoon tour of Old Delhi, including the Red Fort, Jama Masjid Mosque and Raj Ghat. (N)

Day 3 To Agra: Morning tour of New Delhi, including India Gate and the former Viceregal Residence, both fine examples of British Imperial architecture. Continue to the tomb of the Mughal Emperor Humayun and the Qutb Minar tower. Afternoon drive to Agra and stay for 2 nights at The Gateway Hotel Agra (or similar). (B)

Day 4 Agra: Early morning visit to the Taj Mahal, arriving in time for sunrise. After breakfast, visit the tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah and Agra Fort. Optional excursion to the Taj Mahal at sunset (payable locally). (B)

Day 5 To Jaipur: Morning drive to the deserted sandstone city of Fatehpur Sikri. Continue to the former royal retreat of the rulers of Jaipur, The Gateway Hotel Ramgarh Lodge, for a 3 night stay. (B, D)

Day 6 Jaipur: After breakfast, visit the ancient fort palace of Amber. Afternoon visit to the City Palace, home of the present Maharaja. (B, D)

Day 7 Jaipur: At leisure to relax, explore Jaipur’s many bazaars or take an optional tour of the ghost town of Bhangarh. (B, D)

Day 8 To Delhi: Drive to Delhi via the beautiful palace at Samode, a fine blend of Rajput and Mughal architecture. Following a sightseeing tour and lunch (optional), continue to Delhi. Overnight at The Westin Sohna-Gurgaon (or similar). (B)

Day 9 To London: Morning transfer to the airport. Fly to London with Jet Airways. (B)
