Day 1 To Delhi:
Fly overnight from London to
Delhi with British Airways. (N)

Day 2 Delhi:
Morning arrival and transfer
to the Taj Mahal Hotel for 3 nights including
immediate occupancy. Afternoon tour of Old
Delhi, including the Red Fort and Jama Masjid
Mosque. (B)

Day 3 Delhi:
Morning tour of New Delhi, the
tomb of the Mughal Emperor Humayun and the Qutb Minar tower. Afternoon at leisure.

Day 4 To Agra:
Board the Maharajas’ Express
for a 6 night journey. Travel to Agra and
visit the Agra fort and legendary Taj Mahal.

Day 5 Gwalior:
Arrive in Gwalior this morning
and visit the magnificent Gwalior Fort.
Following lunch at the beautiful Usha Kiran
Palace, explore Jai Vilas Palace that resembles
an Italian Palazzo and has an assortment of
royal possessions, curiosities and memorabilia.

Day 6 Khajuraho:
Moning visit to the Chandela
Hindu temples, which represent some of
the finest examples of Indo-Aryan temple
architecture in northern India. Following lunch,
take a guided village walk. (B, L, D).

Day 7 Umaria (Bandhavgarh National Park):
Very early this morning, you will arrive into Umaria to prepare for an exciting drive to Bandhavgarh National Park. With the highest known density of tigers, it was the former hunting grounds of the Maharaja of Rewa. Animals such as deers, langurs, sloth bears and exotic birds can also be found here. Following brunch, take a safari drive and return to Umaria for the overnight journey to Varanasi. Dinner and Overnight on board (B, L, D)

Day 8 Varanasi:
Early morning boat ride on
the sacred Ganges. Later, visit the silk weaving
centre and the ancient ruins of Sarnath, where
Buddha delivered his first sermon. (B, L, D)

Day 9 Gaya:
Another early morning arrival gets you into Gaya. Gaya, with a rich cultural past, is one of the most sacred centres for Hindu pilgrims. Following breakfast, proceed to Nalanda, an important seat of learning in ancient India. After visiting its magnificent ruins enjoy lunch at Rajgir. After lunch, drive to Bodh Gaya – the place where Prince Gautama attained enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree and came to be known as Lord Buddha. Visit the Maha Bodhi Temple complex dedicated to Lord Buddha, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Return to Gaya and rejoin the train for your final night on board. Day 10 Calcutta:
Arrive and transfer to The
Oberoi Grand for 2 nights. (B)

Day 11 Calcutta:
Morning tour of British
Calcutta. Afternoon at leisure. (B)
