Tailor-made travel
For those that prefer to travel at their own pace, or visit places not featured on our set itineraries, Cox & Kings’ tailor–made service is the perfect answer. Our team of expert tour consultants are all regional specialists and experienced travellers. They will be delighted to design the perfect natural history journey for you, taking into account your interests, time and budget.
Although we are not able to arrange private travel accompanied by one of our featured natural history experts, we will ensure that you are escorted on the ground by a local guide with extensive knowledge and experience of your particular area of interest.
Support
On arrival and at each new destination on your journey you will be met at the airport, station or quay by a Cox & Kings representative, who will accompany you to your hotel, help with your check–in and discuss the itinerary for your stay. You will be given the contact numbers of all the relevant Cox & Kings representatives, ensuring that your private journey goes according to your plans, respecting your privacy and independence while ensuring full support and safety throughout.
Flexibility
For all road journeys you will have your own private car and driver, allowing you the flexibility to stop off along the way if you see something of interest, to take a photograph or to take a break, and enabling you to start road journeys or sightseeing when you choose, within reason. If required, the itineraries for all of our private journeys can be adjusted at the planning stage to suit particular interests and preferences.
Private guides
All sightseeing excursions are accompanied by your own private English–speaking guide. This means that you can ask as many questions as you like and take sightseeing trips at your own pace, with the emphasis on your own interests. Your private guide will bring places to life in a way that guidebooks never can and will allow you to find out more about the culture and day–to–day lives of the local people.
Special Groups
If you have a group of friends or family that would like to travel together, be it a private party, local group or society, Cox & Kings has a dedicated special groups service. Please call for details.
Indian Subcontinent
For generations, Cox & Kings has made arrangements for visitors to the Subcontinent, from the British Army during the Raj era to adventurers such as George Mallory. Today, Cox & Kings arranges adventures such as Himalayan treks and tiger safaris, luxury stays in the palaces of Rajasthan, and journeys to the spice lands and ornate temples of Kerala and Sri Lanka.
Middle East
Surely no other region of the world has such a concentration of great ancient sites. Libya is home to some of the most spectacular ruins; the banks of the Nile in Egypt are dotted with countless temples of extraordinary magnitude; Jordan is home to the awe–inspiring Petra; and Iran and Uzbekistan are sprinkled with exquisitely tiled minarets and mosques.
Latin America
Latin America is a continent full of contrasts: from the historical sites of Machu Picchu and Chichen Itza to the exquisite Spanish architecture of Quito and Buenos Aires, and from the intoxicating cultural mix in Brazil’s northeast to the cosmopolitan city of Rio. And from the Amazon to the Andes, all around are stunning landscapes and extraordinary bio–diversity.
Africa
Sub–Saharan Africa is best known for its spectacular wildlife and a safari in eastern or southern Africa is certainly an unforgettable experience. However, there is also much more to discover: from the colourful tribes and markets of Mali to the magnificent rock carved churches of Lalibela in Ethiopia and the cosmopolitan culture and inspiring scenery of South Africa.
Europe
The full depth of Europe’s cultural and natural splendour is revealed in Cox & Kings’ range of contrasting holiday ideas that includes river cruises, tours of the great art centres of Russia and Italy and opportunities to discover the antiquities of the Mediterranean, the Baltic States and the Caucasus. There are also city breaks throughout the continent.
Far East
Throughout this region, vast cities of gleaming glass and steel are sprawling outwards and soaring upwards with extraordinary speed. Meanwhile, in rural areas, it is still possible to marvel at wonders such as China’s Great Wall, Japan’s Buddhist shrines, the sleepy villages along the Mekong River, Cambodia’s stunning temples at Angkor and the unique wildlife of Borneo.
