Highlights on this tailor-made itinerary include the exciting city of Hong Kong; the varied sights of Beijing; the Great Wall of China; the Terracotta Warriors; the pandas of Chengdu; the Giant Buddha of Leshan; Shanghai and Hangzhou; the vibrant city of Bangkok; and a luxury Eastern & Oriental Express train journey to Chiang Mai.
Day 1 To Hong Kong: Fly to Hong Kong.
Day 2 Honk Kong: Arrive in Hong Kong. Afternoon city tour. Overnight at The Peninsula.
Day 3 To Beijing: Afternoon flight to Beijing. Stay at the Peninsula Palace for 3 nights.
Day 4 Beijing: Morning tour of Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. In the afternoon visit the Imperial Summer Palace on the outskirts of Beijing.
Day 5 Beijing : Full day tour to the Great Wall at Jinshanling Pass.
Day 6 Beijing: Morning visit to the Temple of Heaven. Afternoon flight to Xian. Transfer to the Sofitel Hotel Xian for 3 nights.
Day 7 Xian: Full day tour to the Shaanxi Museum, the Terracotta Warriors and the Wild Goose Pagoda.
Day 8 Xian: Half day walking tour of the Old City of Xian and the City Walls.
Day 9 To Chengdu: Morning flight to Chengdu. Afternoon Tour of the Wenshu Monastery and the River Viewing Pavilion. The Wenshu Yuan Monastery is the oldest and largest temple in Chengdu, whilst the River Viewing Pavilion (Wangjianglou) park has forests containing over 100 varieties of bamboo. Transfer to the Jin Jiang Hotel for 2 nights.
Day 10 Leshan: Full day excursion to the Giant Buddha of Leshan, at 71 metres high the largest Buddha in the world.
Day 11 To Nanjing: Fly to Nanjing. Afternoon visit to the Yangtze River Bridge. Opened in 1968, Nanjing's Yangtze River Bridge is one of the longest bridges in China. It is a "double-decker" bridge with a 4.5 km long road on top and a train line below. Overnight at the Sheraton Nanjing Kingsley Hotel & Towers.
Day 12 To Shanghai: Full day tour of Nanjing including the city walls and Purple Mountain, the mausoleum of China's great revolutionary forerunner, Dr. Sun Yat-sen. Late afternoon train journey to Shanghai. Transfer to the Four Seasons Hotel for 2 nights.
Day 13 Shanghai: Tour of the Old City, Yuyuan Gardens, the Bund and Jade Buddha Temple.
Day 14 To Hangzhou: Train journey to Hangzhou followed by visit to the Temple of Souls Retreat and a cruise on West Lake. Transfer to the Shangri La for 2 nights.
Day 15 Hangzhou: At leisure.
Day 16 To Hong Kong: Morning flight to Hong Kong. Overnight at the Peninsula.
Day 17 To Bangkok: Afternoon flight to Bangkok. Transfer to the Oriental for 2 nights.
Day 18 Bangkok: Full day tour of Bangkok, including the Grand Palace, the Emerald Buddha and a rice barge cruise along the klongs.
Day 19 To Chiang Mai: Board the luxurious Eastern & Oriental Express train to Chiang Mai.
Lunch is served while the train journeys northwards through the Thai countryside. Disembark at Ayutthaya where the magnificent ruins of temples, palaces and crumbling fortresses provide eloquent testimony of the former capital's splendour. A guided tour is followed by a relaxing river cruise. Sit back and watch the riverside life glide by and admire the famous Wat Chai Wattanaram and the Queen of Thailand's Ayutthaya Palace.
Dress for dinner in one of the opulent dining cars and then spend a relaxing evening in the Bar Car with its resident pianist. Reflect on the day's sights over dinner and later over a drink in the Bar Car. Retire to your compartment that has now been transformed into a cosy bedroom by your steward.
Day 20 Chiang Mai: Arrive at Chiang Mai, Thailand's second city. Overnight at the Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi.

CHINA, MONGOLIA & MALAYSIA
This tailor-made itinerary combines the sites of Beijing, the Great Wall, Guilin, Chengdu and the Giant Buddha of Leshan, with a visit to Mongolia's Hustain Nuruu National Park, where accommodation is in a traditional felt tent (ger). Other highlights include a cruise on the Li River, a visit to Hong Kong and three nights relaxing at the luxurious Tanjong Jara Resort on Malaysia's east coast.
Day 1 To Beijing: Fly to Beijing.
Day 2 Beijing: Lunchtime arrival in Arrive in Beijing. Afternoon at leisure.
Day 3 Beijing: Full day tour of Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven, the Hutongs and Shi Cha Hai Lake.
Day 4 Beijing: Full day tour to the Great Wall of China at Mutianyu and visit to the Xiuhsui Market.
Day 5 Beijing: Full day excursion to the Sumemr Palace. Afternoon lesson in Chinese, calligraphy and Chinese painting. In the evening enjoy a performance of the Beijing state acrobats.
Day 6 to Ulaan Baatar: Morning flight to Ulaan Baatar, arriving at 12:15. Afternoon tour of the capital.
Day 7 to Terelj National Park: Full day tour to Terelj National Park. Stay overnight in a ger (traditional felt tent).
Day 8 to Hustain Nuruu National Park: Today visit the Hustain Nuruu Protected area. This is home to the last wild horse species in the world, the Przewalski horse or takhii in Mongolian. Stay overnight in a ger.
Day 9 To Ulaan Baatar: Travel back to Ulaan Baatar.
Day 10 To Chengdu: Morning flight to Beijing followed by internal flight to Chengdu.
Day 11 Chengdu: Full day tour to the Giant Panda Research Base and the Leshan Buddha. It is estimated that there are between just 700 and 1000 pandas left in the wild. Writings about the panda can be traced back 3000 years, and they were once believed to have magical powers that could ward off evil spirits. It is extremely difficult to see Pandas in the wild nowadays. The breeding station has been in operation since 1990 and the best time to visit is in the morning around feeding when they are at their most active. For the rest of the day, the Panda's main activity is sleeping.
Situated around 75 kilometres south of Chengdu, the small town of Leshan lies at the confluence of the Dadu and Min rivers. The Grand Buddha at Leshan is an incredible sight, carved into the riverside cliffs it measures around 71 metres in height and is the largest Buddha in the world. Even it features are huge, the toes them selves are 8 metres long and ears over 7 metres.
Day 12 To Guilin: Morning flight to Guilin. Spend the evening cormorant fishing.
Day 13 Li River Cruise: Full day Li River cruise to Yangshou before returning to Guilin.
Day 14 To Honk Kong: Full day tour to Fubo Hill and Reed Flute Cave.
The peak of Fubo Shan affords good views of Guilin town; its name derives from either the way the hill descends into the river or from a temple that was built here for a Han dynasty general, Fubo Jiangjun - the wave-subduing general.
The Reed Flute Caves contain multi coloured lights which illuminate the impressive stalactites and stalagmites. The locals have attributed numerous stories to the unusual rock shapes and caves and the large caverns were used as bomb shelters during World War II.
Evening flight to Hong Kong. Overnight at the Island Shangri-La.
Days 15-17 Hong Kong: At leisure.
Day 18: To Terengganu: Afternoon flight to Terengganu via Kuala Lumpar.
Overnight at Tanjong Jara Resort.
Days 19 - 21 Tanjog Jara: At leisure.
Day 22 To London: Return flight to London via Kuala Lumpar.
Day 23 London: Early morning arrival in London.
